On 22 November 2035 the community of Katigondo Seminary made a pilgrimage to Villa Maria Proto Cathedral as part of the celebration of the Jubilee of the Holy Year. Staff and students walked the 2 kilometers to the Villa Maria Church while singing hymns. At the church they all went through the Holy Door and thereafter Mass which was presided over by Fr Kateregga was celebrated. The Mass was at the same time the conclusion of the monthly recollection that Fr Kateregga had preached to the students the previous day. After Mass the Parish Priest of Villa Maria, Fr Michael Ssewakiryanga gave a brief history of Villa Maria Church and its importance as the cradle of Catholicism in Uganda.
